We Partner with Facilities who Offer Alcohol & Drug Detox Treatment
For people struggling with a mental health condition and a co-occurring substance abuse disorder, seeking treatment through medical detoxification is often the first step towards recovery. Detoxification is important for recovery, but it can also be one of the more intimidating steps to overcome. Clearing your system of drugs and alcohol is physically, emotionally, and mentally taxing, but the end result of a healthier mind and body is worth it.
During detoxification, you will experience withdrawal symptoms. How these symptoms affect you depends on your medical condition, the substance(s) you consumed, how often you used them, and how long you used them. No two people will experience withdrawal the same way, so there is no “one-size-fits-all” detoxification program.
Dana Point Residential Mental Health partners with detox facilities for patients with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders who may need detoxification from drugs or alcohol. After the detox treatment at our partner facility, we facilitate door-to-door transfer to our mental health programs.
At Dana Point Residential Mental Health, we use a three-stage approach to treating co-occurring disorders:
We carefully consider the needs of each person individually and holistically. Our goal isn’t just to get them clean and send them on their way to face the world on their own again. Instead, we look to complete the healing, restoration and recovery process of every person who walks through our doors. Care doesn’t end with detox. We provide a personalized treatment plan for long-term recovery, as well as help residents transition into the next phase of recovery.
Evaluation
Specially trained nurses will take the time to review history carefully, check vitals, examine your current condition for signs of withdrawal, and more. Professionals at our partner detox facilities will create a personalized detox program. Each program is continuously updated as patients progress through their detoxification, all the while ensuring both comfort and safety.
Stabilization
Your care team regularly checks your vitals and neurological status and carefully watches for the presence of potentially life-threatening symptoms like delirium, seizures and high blood pressure. The detox process can last up to three weeks, depending on the severity of the withdrawal symptoms of each.
Transition
It’s what you do after detox that determines the extent of your sobriety. Our treatment programs include door-to-door transfer to our mental health programs. Once you’ve completed your detoxification program, you’ll be prepared to continue your recovery journey.
