Dana Point Rehab Campus Is Accredited by the Joint Commission

Joint Commission Accredited Facility in California

In the United States, more than 14,500 addiction treatment centers provide detox, behavioral therapy, and many other drug rehab services to people with substance use disorders, as reported by the NIDA. However, only 1,900 of these drug rehab facilities are accredited by the Joint Commission.

Dana Point Rehab Campus is fully accredited by The Joint Commission to provide addiction and co-cccurring disorder treatment.  Here’s more information about why choosing a Joint Commission accredited facility is an important factor to consider for addiction treatment.

What Is the Joint Commission?

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates healthcare practices to ensure they deliver safe, effective health care of the highest value and quality. Currently, more than 22,000 healthcare organizations are accredited and certified by the Joint Commission, including drug rehab centers, ambulatory care centers, home care and laboratory services, and many more. Healthcare organizations accredited by the Joint Commission are recognized as industry leaders that provide exceptional and quality health care.

How Do Drug Rehab Centers Receive Joint Commission Accreditation?

Drug rehab centers must meet certain criteria and a set of high standards in order to be accredited by the Joint Commission. Standards focus on the organization’s ability to provide safe, high-quality care and are deemed reasonable and completely achievable.

To receive accreditation from the Joint Commission, the drug rehab center must first contact the Joint Commission directly to request an on-site survey, which is individualized to the treatment center. Then, a representative from the Joint Commission arrives at the facility unannounced to conduct a survey that evaluates the quality of care being delivered to its patients. When a treatment center earns accreditation, the accreditation cycle will be continuous as long as the treatment center has a full, unannounced survey within 36 months of its last survey and continues to meet all standards and requirements set forth by the Joint Commission.

Why Should Patients Choose an Accredited Drug Rehab Center?

Accredited drug rehab centers are held to higher standards and surveyed regularly to ensure they continuously offer safe, quality, evidence-based treatment. Joint Commission–accredited rehab centers offer a full continuum of care that guides patients from detox to behavioral therapy, to long-term recovery, and beyond. Patients who choose an accredited treatment center can benefit from knowing they are receiving health care that meets or exceeds industry standards and that is superior to that offered by other rehab centers in terms of safety and quality.

The Office of the Surgeon General reports that an estimated 20.8 million people aged 12 or older in the United States have a substance use disorder; however, only 1 in 10 of these individuals receive specialized treatment at drug rehab. If you are currently suffering from a substance use disorder, understand that choosing an accredited treatment center can improve your chances of achieving long-term sobriety and reduce your risk for relapse and repeated visits to drug rehab.
